1. ipconfig /flushdns

2. Stop and Start Windows Update Service.

3. Open command prompt and type: net stop wuauserv

4. Navigate to C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution (delete everything in that folder)

5. Open command prompt and type: net start wuauserv

  1. I meticulously followed Brian's directions and although it took a bit of time, I was able to stop windows update from getting hung up on a Windows 7 laptop. Thanks. BTW, the background music is fine. I know it can go either way. I've certainly heard a lot worse. Cheers!

  2. I have had this problem with vista, I know they stopped doing updates but had 106 old updates I never did. And did all this and can't get the update to show up… What can I do to get the updates back??? Please help Britec09. Thank you.

  3. I have a weird issue, i get new updates, almost every 2-4 hours, but i've updated my pc, but the next hour it says i have to update again. I don't know if it is normal or not, and after i updated the computer, it takes long, until it is booted up, i won't update it anymore, my performance is just getting bad….
