  1. tech deals your killing me !!! a 6 core 8400 will last 4-5 years easily and a quad core isnt oboslete yet either , my old 4690k is still rocking it , had a 970 and 1070 both getting 1080p high -ultra 60 every game with this 4th gen quad

  2. That Tinder thing, really? That's just wrong. I mean, I don't think this guy would have that much trouble finding a one night stand, a free one. All been relative of course, he's attractive (specially the eyes, gorgeous, subjective, I know), has a functional brain, seemingly nice. His surroundings are well organized and well kept (love that red wall), hard workings, capable of establishing an intellectual conversation (specially about tech), his video music is always good. All in all, a Great deal. Or am I wrong? And I'm just been "a guy" and "don't get it" there's more to it than the specs sheet XD.
    Well I hope when he does decide to look he find an awesome girl. so you both be lucky.

    As for the snappiness. I think it's not placebo, but that it might not last forever. Like how the latest and greatest smart phones always seems to predict where you'll tap or open next with how snappy it all feel. But months later, is not the same thing.

    I agreed with trying to go for something that will last you a lot longer than just 2 years. Since you don't know what can happened. Some people don't mind upgrading every 18 months or so. But personally, my luck usually is that if I get the lesser option considring to upgrade soonish, shit happens, unexpected medical bills, accidents, hurricanes, car broke, etc. and end up stuck unable to upgrade, sometimes for years.

  3. Honestly intel has been dissapointing over last 10y, it has been a case of new cpu same as the old cpu. And i've moved to a 1700x and now a 2600 after years with them.

    Here's the thing, everybody is loosing their minds that a 8700k can OC to 5.2ghz and that ryzens only get 400-600mhz OC. So what?, how much can the 8700K OC over its stock clocks? 500-600mhz on avge? Wow! Gimmie a break, hinestly that sucks at best.
    Remember the E4300?, i took that from 1800mhz to 3650mhz on water back then, over 100% OC and over double the clocks.
    My Q9650 3Ghz went up to 4.5Ghz back in 2008, and i've hit 5.1ghz with a 2700k. So forgive me for being less than impressed that 6-7y later nothing has changed much.

    Amd may not be great at everything right now, but these boys are realy trying and it shows.
    Ram glitches were solved in 3 months, performance is up a lot, prices are down $170 from 1800x. So ya AMD is firing on all cilinders right now.
    And i appriciate the effort and al the work these guys vahe put into their products.

  4. ryzen is gonna be on global foundries 7nm not tsmc's. global foundries 7nm has the same metric as intel's 10nm by the way. they are basically equal. their numbers got off with 14nm. amd's 14nm is bascially 20nm with finfets. the head of global foudnries said so personally. its a fact. everybody lies about process tech intel just lies a lot less

  5. dx 12 is more than a performance upgrade. it has a lot of lighting changes and yes it lets you get closer to the metal if you want but thats only really useful in consoles or for cpu limited situations, mainly the fx chips. if you look at cpu usage on dx 12 games they run LESS threads. on a chip with 4 or more cores and THSMT dx 11 runs a lot of little threads that are a bit wasteful of cpu time but get the job done faster. dx 12 runs less threads and is best for chips with no HTSMT and lower ipc which is the way the fx chips are setup and the consoles too.

I have still an 2nd pc , which i use for testing stuff , and it is an i5-2500K , i really love this cpu , because it is old , so i can really go looking for the max OC ( because if it breaks now , i don't care very much ) and i got it to 5.3Ghz stable right now ! That shows that the older Intel cpu's are much better then for example the 4th gen ! Because it OC's so much better then 4th gen !
    Yeah the i5-2500K is old , BUT it can still keep up , if you can OC the max out of it ! ( i have it on a cheap 240mm liquid cooler from master cooler ) . The 2500K is still a very FUN chip !

  7. this is my prediction, the xeon will lose to the 2600x in benchmarks. but, the snappiness will be similar in everyday tasks. the xeon might also lose in some gaming benchmarks or in all of them because the xeon is on older platform. but, in some games, even if benchmark shows ryzen winning, the 0.01 percent FPS and/or slowdown/slowmotion thing will affect the ryzen in that even though it wins in benchmarks, the snappiness is not as snappy as the xeon because even though AMD has tweaked Infinity Fabric for this refresh, the cross-ccx-latency is still pretty high. so, my prediction is that xeon loses in all benchmarks. but, in some games, the xeon will be snappier due to not having high latency issues…

    cross-ccx latency is data shuffled from one ccx to another… a typical ryzen cpu has two ccx modules, usually… in an r7, it has two ccx modules with 4 cores each, totaling 8 cores/16 threads…

    the games that affect cross-ccx latency varies. and, it even varies within each game because it's random and it is only when data is being moved across ccx modules. the user sees this as "slowmo" effect in-game for one millisecond at random times throughout the game… the user can also see this if they have Afterburner or something running and see their GPU dip from like 95% GPU usage to something like 0%-40% GPU usage in-game, correlating to the "slow-mo" effect….

  8. on the 2800x keep in mind that amd said they were going to be sampling zen2 based 7nm silicon to certain people later this year. i think the clocks on 7nm and intels 10nm will be lower than current tech. so i think amd will go 6 cores per ccx which will give 12 cores per die. the 2800x could be the whole 12 or maybe 10 as was stated. i dont think it will be a big deal for most people though. most people dont need more than 6 or 8 cores. after that they need more clocks. if intel moves to 8 core i7's and i5's or 8 an 6 then they will win out over amd going to 12. just my thoughts. and i dont think zen2 will bring much architectural improvements. they are gonna have the same 2-3% improvements per core as intel because this stuff is harder to improve than people think

  9. paste vs solder doesnt just save money on the solder but it saves chips that die from soldering. a few die in the process. its not much but still. and till now they really havent needed to solder. the 8700k at stock or even with MCE locked to 4.7 on all cores runs cool without soldering. ive got one i know. even for rendering its not that hot at 4.7 if you adjust the voltage accordingly.

    ive had the thought that they do it to make you upgrade more often. sandy bridge clocked so well that you didnt really need to upgrade for a long time. there probalby is something to that

  11. We've already known for 10 months now that unlike glofous 12nm, the 12nm process at tsmc that nvidia uses is not a dieshrink compared to 16nm, so those leaks are definitely fake.
    tsmc do not have any other 12nm processes on the way, only 7, 5 and 3nm are in the works. 7nm isn't ready for mass production this year.
